The very well equipped Villa Gaia is in a stunning location on a hillside, 1km from Tsivaras village with panoramic views over the village, Souda Bay and The White Mountains. Several sandy beaches are nearby and a host of amenities in Kalives, Almyrida and Vamos are within 10 minutes drive of the villa.
The main part of the villa is all at first floor level (the 4th bedroom with en-suite is at ground floor level and accessed via its own private entrance).
There is an enormous wrap around terrace which flows from the main living areas and master bedroom giving incredible views over the surrounding countryside and Souda Bay. It successfully blends inside and outside with plenty of space for tables, chairs and loungers. This is a truly magnificent place to sit and watch the sun go down.
Villa Gaia is air-conditioned by a central, programmable system. The lounge area is comfortably furnished in a contemporary style with many modern pieces of art adorning the walls. For your entertainment there is satellite TV (not sky), a DVD/CD player and internet access. The kitchen is comprehensively equipped and the dining area has a table and chairs for 6. Patio doors lead onto the extensive terrace which overlooks the large, tiled swimming pool and well established, colourful, gardens with bougainvillea, palms, citrus and other fruit trees. There is also a small covered terrace on the other side of the villa which is a perfect, peaceful, shady spot, away from the main activity of the villa.
Three of the well fitted bedrooms are on this floor. There are two twin rooms with single beds that can be pushed together to make doubles and a children's bunk room. The master bedroom has an en-suite shower room and there is a separate family bathroom.
The ground floor is where you'll find the 4th bedroom complete with en-suite shower room and patio doors leading to the pool terrace. Accessed via a separate, private entrance this is ideal for larger groups where 1 or 2 people need their own space.
Villa Gaia is set on an extensive plot with fabulous, enticing gardens providing freshly grown herbs for guests to use. There is a lovely stone table with stone seating looking out across the bay, a private place to watch the sun go down with a drink before dinner.
There is a generous sized pool, with a shallow children's section, boasting two sets of roman steps, one in the main pool and one in the children's section. Additionally, there is a metal step ladder into the pool.
The paved terracing immediately around the villa offers lots of space for sunbathing and a shaded covered area which is great for al fresco dining and for getting out of the sun whilst still enjoying the glorious views of the village of Tsivaras, Souda Bay and the White Mountains. Well equipped with outdoor furniture, sun loungers, umbrellas, a shower and a state of the art, large, brick built BBQ.
In the evenings, the whole villa, pool and terrace area is beautifully lit.
This is provided by satellite with fast connection speeds for such things as email and Facebook.There is no download or upload limit but downloading movies is not recommended. Full details on how to use the system are contained in the owner's manual at the villa.

Low Occupancy Discounts
A low occupancy discount for a single couple (use of 1 bedroom), of 15%, is available at this villa except for July and August dates.
Not allowed on late availability or special offer prices.
If you are a returning client and this is your 3rd (or more) consecutive booking with Crete Escapes or your 2nd separate booking in one season, you will qualify for our loyalty discount. Please quote voucher code LOYALTY5 when asked to do so during the online booking process or let us know when you contact us. Your reduction of 5% will then be deducted from the total price.
Short breaks are normally only available for a minimum of 5 nights and will be charged at the 7 nightly rate unless otherwise advertised. However, if the number of available days between existing bookings is less than 7 nights we may be able to accept bookings at a reduced rate subject to the owners agreement.
Short breaks are allowed within 3 days of arrival.
Change-over days are totally flexible but are subject to existing bookings taken either side. If a booking means that the owner would be left with too many "void" days we might not be able to accept it. If this is the case we will contact you without delay to discuss alternatives.
Payment can be made by bank transfer (sterling or euro) or by debit or credit card.

Low occupancy discounts - unfortunately the online booking system automatically calculates the single couple discount based on the number of people entered onto the booking form and the start day of your rental. There are 2 problems with this:-
a) If you are 2 people but not a single couple, the system will have automatically calculated a discount when it is not due. Please make use of the "additional notes" box on the booking form to tell us and we will adjust the price accordingly before we confirm your booking.
b) If your rental overlaps from a discounted period to a non-discounted one (or vice versa), the discount calculated will be wrong. In these cases we have to make the adjustment manually. You can still book on-line but we will need to change the price on receipt of your booking request. If the price increases we will contact you to confirm the new price before we confirm your booking and take your deposit.
Please don't let either of these issues put you off making a booking. The discounts are genuine and our villa owners welcome couples and smaller parties out of high season. We just can't fine tune the booking system to account for these 2 circumstances - sorry.

We've had a great holiday, the villa is lovely and the garden fantastic......the villa is is situated in a delightful area of Crete and there was too much to see and do in one week. Our children loved the pool and we had many happy hours swimming in it - August 2016.

We visited the villa in October and stayed for a week. The villa is great, its beautifully decorated and
furnished and comes kitted out with everything you need. The views are amazing, from the mountains all the way to the sea. The local villages are a short distance away and offer plenty to do and great places to eat and drink along with some beautiful beaches. I will certainly be going again and would recommend the villa to anyone - October 2015.
The property was "as advertised". I recommend the location. The property was a good value for the price paid. The property provided wifi/internet access. My security deposit was returned on time - September 2015.
I would just like to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Villa Gaia. The villa was clean, the 'welcome' basket was very welcome especially the wine! The villa is beautifully decorated and has everything you could possibly need. Great views with an amazing pool. Marianna was very helpful with any queries we had - August 2015.
Crete is the most southerly Greek island with an agreeable climate. The tourist season usually starts around April and lasts until the end of October. The spring (April) is a good time to visit for hiking and to see the beautiful flowers.
In early summer (May and June) the temperatures will be climbing steadily to an average in the mid 20's. This is a good time to visit if you don't have to keep to school holiday dates as the climate is very pleasant and there are few crowds.
July and August are the busiest (and hottest) months with tourists from all over Europe choosing Crete for their holiday destination. The north westerly winds usually moderate the temperatures but it's best to make sure your holiday accommodation offers shelter from the hot sun. It goes without saying that the sea will be warm.
September is still high season with warm, sunny days and the sea is still warm. The season draws to a close in October but this is a perfect month for visiting the island as the sea is still warm for swimming and activities such as hiking and visiting the archaeological sites can be undertaken in pleasant temperatures.
