Villa Polyanna is an exceptionally well planned and well equipped villa. It is located on a tranquil hillside 7 km. west of Chania, with stunning 270 degree views to the sea as well as towards the beautiful white mountains. It is located just outside the traditional Greek village of Pano Stalos, which is just south of the popular seaside resorts of Aghia Marina and Platanias with beaches and plenty of restaurants only 5 minutes away by car. The villa has a magnificent large garden which has recently been planted with an abundance of trees and shrubs. The hillsides around the villa are covered in olive trees. The village boasts a couple of excellent tavernas which are very popular with locals and tourists alike and there is a mini market for everyday provisions.
Villa Polyanna was completely re-furbished, re-decorated and upgraded a couple of years ago and now boasts 3 bedrooms, one of which has a romantic 4 poster bed, a completely re-fitted and comprehensively equipped kitchen, modern bathrooms and extensive gardens all around the villa incorporating several different sitting and dining areas. The villa also benefits from wi-fi internet access indoors and out, thanks to a booster wifi amplifier providing internet access in the pool area.
Villa Polyanna provides perfect accommodation for a family holiday, for 2 couples holidaying together or for a single couple who can take advantage of the single couples discount at this villa (except July and August).
The open plan ground floor comprises the very well equipped kitchen with plenty of pots, pans and crockery to enable you to easily cater for yourselves. There is an adjoining dining area and comfortable lounge. The focal point in the lounge is the beautiful, traditionally styled fireplace with a big comfortable sofa and a wide range of entertainment facilities including a 48 inch TV and 6 ch. home cinema system. There is a chrome cast connected to the TV and the broadband connection supports your eg Netflix subscription (see the features tab for kitchen equipment and other facilities).
Also on the ground floor is a handy cloakroom with WC and shower.
The 3 bedrooms are all on the first floor, these are two doubles and a small single. The master bedroom with en-suite shower room, is furnished with a lovely 4 poster bed. The second bedroom is a twin, adjacent to the family bathroom which has a corner bath with jacuzzi and shower attachment. The 3rd bedroom is a small but comfortable single with its own storage facilities. Both the master and the twin bedrooms have balconies overlooking the private gardens and /or pool area.
The private pool is surrounded by extensive sun terraces, well equipped with quality sun loungers and other outdoor furniture; inviting you to spend time outside soaking up the magnificent views and enjoying the garden which is a particular feature at this villa.
The garden has been extensively re-planted in the mediterranean style with roses and fruit trees including lemon, lime, almond, mandarin, nectarine, peach, fig, apricot and avocado. There is also a separate cactus garden with 25 + different species as well as 6 varieties of palm trees. A herb/chilli garden is provided for your personal cooking.
The stylish terrace areas are furnished with plenty of sun loungers for relaxation or soaking up the sun and teak tables and chairs for al fresco dining, either in the sun or under the shaded, purpose built pergola next to the BBQ and outdoor kitchen. There is also a large, outdoor, corner sofa right outside the main living area which is in a shady spot and is perfect for enjoying your afternoon tea or early evening drinks.
There is car parking adjacent to the villa but as the driveway is quite steep, on first arrival, many guests prefer to leave their car in the car parking area above the villa. The owners have supplied some tips about parking next to the villa, in the information book which you will find inside the property.
Please note: the garden is extensive; it stretches all the way down to the road leading from the village to the villa. The owners have made a walkable but rough track through the garden, to provide a short cut to the village which shortens the walk to approx 500/600 metres instead of the 2 kms journey via the road.
Internet access at this villa is supplied by means of a fixed telephone line giving Broadband wifi both indoors and out as described above (including chrome cast support).

Low Occupancy Discounts
A low occupancy discount for a single couple (use of 1 bedroom), of 15%, is available at this villa except for July and August dates.
Not allowed on late availability or special offer prices.
If you are a returning client and this is your 3rd (or more) consecutive booking with Crete Escapes or your 2nd separate booking in one season, you will qualify for our loyalty discount. Please quote voucher code LOYALTY5 when asked to do so during the online booking process or let us know when you contact us. Your reduction of 5% will then be deducted from the total price.
Short breaks are normally only available for a minimum of 5 nights and will be charged at the 7 nightly rate unless otherwise advertised. However, if the number of available days between existing bookings is less than 7 nights we may be able to accept bookings at a reduced rate subject to the owners agreement.
Short breaks are allowed within 3 days of arrival.
Change-over days are totally flexible but are subject to existing bookings taken either side. If a booking means that the owner would be left with too many "void" days we might not be able to accept it. If this is the case we will contact you without delay to discuss alternatives.
Payment can be made by bank transfer (sterling or euro) or by debit or credit card.
Our travel information provides details of how to get to Crete including flights to both Chania and Heraklion airports.
If you want to book, please use the availability chart to check your dates, you can then either book on-line, email or call us on 0330 111 0061.
Please note: although the calendars show live availability and you can book on-line, please note that your booking is not confirmed until we have issued a confirmation of booking. You may prefer not to book your flights until we have confirmed the booking.
Low occupancy discounts - unfortunately the online booking system automatically calculates the single couple or small party discount based on the number of people entered onto the booking form and the start day of your rental. There are 2 problems with this:-
a) If you are 2 people but not a single couple, or 3 or 4 people but not 2 + 1 or 2 + 2, the system will have automatically calculated a discount when it is not due. Please make use of the "additional notes" box on the booking form to tell us and we will adjust the price accordingly before we confirm your booking.
b) If your rental overlaps from a discounted period to a non-discounted one (or vice versa), the discount calculated will be wrong. In these cases we have to make the adjustment manually. You can still book on-line but we will need to change the price on receipt of your booking request. If the price increases we will contact you to confirm the new price before we confirm your booking and take your deposit.
Please don't let either of these issues put you off making a booking. The discounts are genuine and our villa owners welcome couples and smaller parties out of high season. We just can't fine tune the booking system to account for these 2 circumstances - sorry.
Perfect villa, wonderful holiday - September 2017.
A splendid villa in a beautiful location. No complaints other than we must leave, thankyou - September 2017.
Really enjoyed our week at Villa Polyanna, very relaxing and peaceful. Stunning views over Stalos where we ate most evenings, our favourite being Salavanties. Drove to Elafonnisi beach which was beautiful and worth the 1 1/2 hour drive through the mountains, breathtaking scenery. Beach very busy though! Chania has a pretty harbour but quite touristy with lots of souvenir shops. Local beaches can be busy but we found a quieter spot opposite Marcos restaurant (10 eur for 4 sunbeds). Hope to come back one day, many thanks - August 2017.
Lovely villa and excellent facilities. Thank you for a lovely holiday - September 2016.
Had a really great 2 weeks and we echo all the positive comments in previous testimonials such as the great directions from the airport, the welcome pack and the villa being exceptionally well equipped. We found the path down the hill quite a challenge and not for the less mobile. We visited Rethymnon, Chania, Moni Arkadiou and Falassarna beach. Overall Polyanna is a lovely villa with a wonderful pool and wonderful views making for a great family holiday - August 2016.
We have had a fantastic 2 weeks at Villa Polyanna. We appreciated the very clear directions from the airport and the welcome pack! We have enjoyed spending time at the villa and the pool which is in a lovely spot with beautiful views. We have taken a few villa holidays in the past and found Polyanna to be the best equipped and maintained. We have eaten in lots of local tavernas and not had a bad meal anywhere. We spent an afternoon at Limnoupolis water park; it's a bit dated but good fun. We visited Chania a few times for the great restaurants and the harbour area. We especially enjoyed a trip on Captain Nic's glass bottomed boat which was good value at 30 eur for 4 of us. Thank you for a lovely stay - July/August 2016.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay in Villa Polyanna. We spent the week with our parents and our 7 month old baby and the villa was the perfect size for our group. There are lots of different seating areas for sun or shade all day and a lovely open plan living area inside. We especially enjoyed cooking outside every day. We used the pizza oven to make fresh pizzas and had lots of BBQs. We've loved every minute here and will most definitely be back if possible. Many thanks for everything - July 2016.
We have just enjoyed a wonderful 11 days in this exceptional villa. It was very well equipped, clean, spacious and the outside area by the pool was fantastic. The pool was a nice size, there were ample loungers and seats and the garden was full of cacti, flowers and herbs. The views were spectacular with views of the mountains at the back and of the sea at the front of the house. I can certainly recommend this villa to anyone wanting a peaceful holiday out of the main urban area but within striking distance of shops, restaurants etc. The only 2 things I would point out are that the 3rd bedroom is on the small side but my 17 year old daughter was still happy with it and it might be easier to park the car at the top of the hill and walk down. The wifi worked very well; essential if you have teenagers with you!! - June 2016
Thank you so much for a fantastic stay in Villa Polyanna. We enjoyed our holiday in this beautiful villa for 14 days. We appreciated that the area was so quiet and peaceful. We loved the view to the ocean. Our son who is 18 months old enjoyed his holiday playing around the villa. Every night we went to different restaurants and experienced great food and kind people. We will recommend this villa to everyone! Also thanks to Stathis and Gogo for great service during our stay - May 2016
We had a lovely time thanks. I wrote in the comments book in the villa this was the best equipped villa we have stayed in - and we have been holidaying since 1980! - September 2015.
Villa Polyanna was amazing, probably the best holiday home we have stayed in, it was so well appointed and more than lived up to our expectations. We particularly loved the outside space and pool with its views of the sea and White mountains. Thank you for a great holiday - August 2015.
Just to let you know we had a fantastic week at Villa Polyanna and thank you for your "welcome pack". It is a beautiful villa and it had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend this villa to our friends and family. The gardens and views were spectacular! - July 2015.
The villa is beautiful and extremely well equipped. The garden is gorgeous, our sons loved wandering around looking at the flowers and the view. We’ve had a wonderful time - June 2015
I am a keen cook so I loved all the herbs and spices. First time I didn't have to buy any. Cooking equipment also good (very unusual) - September 2014.
We have enjoyed our stay here immensely. The villa is clean and comfortable, the pool size perfect, lovely gardens and terrace, and has wonderful, uninterrupted views. Than you for a wonderful stay - August 2014.
We have enjoyed a lovely two weeks in Villa Polyanna. The owners have thought of everything - it is very well equipped and comfortable. Our children enjoyed hours in the pool as did we, and particularly liked eating outside every evening watching the sun set from the comfortable seating area. Thank you to the owners for a wonderful holiday - August 2014.
We've spent two lovely weeks at Villa Polyanna. The house and the location is great and the first few days we hardly left the area - July 2014.
We have enjoyed our stay so much at lovely Villa Polyanna. A beautiful, clean villa with magnificent garden and pool where we had many hours with relaxation and fun - July 2014.
Leaving for home tomorrow - very sad to leave. We have enjoyed our stay so much here at lovely Villa Polyanna. A beautiful, clean villa with a magnificent garden and pool where we had many hours of relaxation and fun. Interesting to sample Western Crete as we came to the East side last year. Nikos was most helpful and kind. Thank you too for a lovely memorable stay - July 2014.
We just loved to stay here at this villa. We almost didn't go outside the villa for one week. Enjoyed the pool, the house and the pretty garden. Thanks - May 2014.
A lovely villa, everything we could have wished for and more. Spacious, clean and comfortable, well supplied,a home from home, even comes with a guitar! We enjoyed the fantastic views and spent many hours playing in the pool. The garden has been a pleasure to spend time in and we feel very refreshed and relaxed. Lots to do in the area, boat trips from Chania, Imbros gorge, water park at Limnoupolis (Varipetro). We also went further afield to Elafonissi and Falassarna for great beaches. We have loved our stay here and feel the villa has been great value for money. Sad to go, thank you to Nilkos and the team - August 2013.
An authentic experience of Cretan life! As regular users of Greek villas we rate this accommodation very highly. We are very impressed by the facilities on offer - the pool, the well stocked kitchen, seating both in the sun and in the shade. The attention to detail and information concerning restaurants, local facilities and even the local flora and fauna are very impressive. It is a very relaxing location and the local tavernas were excellent. There were one or two minor glitches but regardless of this we are enjoying our last night sitting relaxing on the patio with a stunning evening view and a gentle warm breeze watching the swifts enjoying the pool. Very best wishes, we would come here again - August 2013.
What a wonderful villa and so relaxing to stay in. Thanks to Nikos who was very kind and helpful and made sure that everything was in order. The gardens at the villa are spectacular with so many places to sit and get some shade! We highly recommend the spectacular drive across the island to Paleochora. Thank you so much for your hospitality and we very much hope to come back again - August 2013.
The villa is fab - we have had the most wonderful 2 weeks in this beautiful villa. Everything is spotlessly clean. It has been the most relaxing holiday ever! Would you please pencil us in for 2 weeks next year - July 2013.
We have had a lovely 2 weeks here. The villa, its facilities and views are wonderful. The location is excellent and the property manager, Nikos is really helpful and friendly. We have tried several tavernas and the ones that stood out for us are Leventis, in the village and EAP and The Olive Tree along the front at Aghia Marina. We've been to Paleochora and Elafonissi; Elafonissi was beautiful. The Old Town in Chania is wonderful, particularly the Venetian harbour - July 2013.
Thank you so much for two superb weeks here at the lovely Villa Polyanna. We also did a lot of cooking and enjoyed the herbs but we have also eaten out and we found the "owners guide" with recommended tavernas very helpful. We recommend everybody reads this for good advice about where to eat. Leventis in Pano Stalos was superb and Mathigis by the square also has great food. We took the boat from Kissamos to the beaches at Gramvoussa and Balos - breathtaking. We also recommend the beach at Falassarna. We will be back - June 2013.
We've had a lovely holiday in this comfortable, clean, well equipped villa. The garden is beautiful and we've enjoyed using the hebs in our cooking. This is our 2nd holiday organised through Crete Escapes and we're already planning to return next spring - May 2013.
We have enjoyed a very relaxing 2 weeks at Villa Polyanna. The villa was clean and if anything better stocked than most villas we have stayed at. The "welcome pack" with basic provisions was very useful too. The villa is lovely with fantastic views and was exactly as we expected from the details when we booked but the views and garden area were much more than we expected. The outside spaces are excellent with ample space around a large pool, loads of chairs and loungers, plenty of tables both small (for drinks) and large. The new garden was pleasant and will be great when the plants are more established. The drive up to the villa is a little daunting the first time you do it and we were pleased that our flight times meant that we arrived in daylight hours. Neither would we recommend bringing a car down to the villa unless it is small and easy to manouevre as the driveway is a bit on the steep side. The TV allowed us to keep up with the Olympics and was great quality, the iPod dock worked well and the wifi was a boon and was one of the reasons that attracted us to this property. We ate out in the village and particularly enjoyed Matigis where we were made to feel very welcome. We made trips to Lake Kournas, Paleochora (south coast which was a long drive and very windy on the beach), Chania and Almirida. Nikos, the property manager, was very approachable and rang to make sure we had arrived safely. Apart from a slight problem with the water which got fixed, everything was great - August 2012.
Just thought I would drop you a line to say we had a great holiday in Crete - Villa Polyanna was lovely, very quiet and peaceful but still only a few minutes to the village and the beach. The people of Crete were lovely, so friendly and helpful, especially Dimitris. Every place we visited he had tips about the best beach, good tavernas, free parking etc. Our daughter and her boyfriend got engaged whilst we were there so this is a holiday we will always remember. We loved Crete and I'm sure we will visit again in the not too distant future - August 2010.
Hi Jan - just a quick email to say what a brilliant holiday we had at Villa Polyanna we all had a great time. Dimitris was brilliant too! He made us so welcome with his knowledge of the area and the kindness he showed us, well we were just blown away he is a great guy. Many thanks - August 2010.
Crete is the most southerly Greek island with an agreeable climate. The tourist season usually starts around April and lasts until the end of October. The spring (April) is a good time to visit for hiking and to see the beautiful flowers.
In early summer (May and June) the temperatures will be climbing steadily to an average in the mid 20's. This is a good time to visit if you don't have to keep to school holiday dates as the climate is very pleasant and there are few crowds.
July and August are the busiest (and hottest) months with tourists from all over Europe choosing Crete for their holiday destination. The north westerly winds usually moderate the temperatures but it's best to make sure your holiday accommodation offers shelter from the hot sun. It goes without saying that the sea will be warm.
September is still high season with warm, sunny days and the sea is still warm. The season draws to a close in October but this is a perfect month for visiting the island as the sea is still warm for swimming and activities such as hiking and visiting the archaeological sites can be undertaken in pleasant temperatures.
