Bay Tree Villa

General Description

Located in a superb private plot above the village of Kokkino Chorio, Bay Tree Villa has far reaching views over the village to the White Mountains and across Souda Bay to the Akrotiri peninsula. The well appointed villa is a spacious 120m2 on a plot of just over half an acre. The beautiful, tiled, infinity style swimming pool is surrounded by furnished sun bathing terraces which all have glorious views across the bay.

Bay Tree Villa is a stone villa built to a traditional style but open plan and modern in its interior layout with modern furnishings, fittings and equipment. In keeping with its high specification, the villa is fully air-conditioned.

Ground Floor

The ground floor consists of a comprehensively fitted kitchen, dining area and lounge which is all open plan. Stone features internally include an impressive arch separating the kitchen and sitting areas and a fireplace which is the focal point of the lounge area. Wooden french doors open up off the lounge to two balconies with views. The lounge is comfortably furnished with rattan furniture and for entertainment there is a TV screen for watching DVD's or streaming, DVD and CD players. A selection of books, CD's and DVD's are provided at the villa.

The kitchen is fully equipped to a high standard with stainless steel appliances including fridge/freezer, cooker, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. Completing the ground floor accommodation is one of the twin bedrooms which has its own private balcony and a ground floor cloakroom with wc and wash hand basin.

First Floor

On the first floor there is another twin bedroom, the stylishly furnished master bedroom and a family bathroom with a full bath and separate shower cubicle. The bedrooms all have plenty of storage with wardrobes, chests of drawers, bedside cabinets etc. There are 2 x fold up beds which can be used in any of the bedrooms or the living area thus allowing this villa to sleep up to 8 (there is an additional charge of £50 per week for each fold up bed in use). All bedrooms have access to terraces/balconies. The first floor terrace runs the whole length of the villa and offers the most amazing views. The master bedroom has direct access to this terrace and the first floor twin room has easy access to it via the landing.

External Areas

Outside there is a 40m2 infinity style swimming pool surrounded by sunbathing terraces all of which have stunning views across Souda Bay, of the White Mountains and Drapanos Hill. The garden surrounding the villa is becoming established with a variety of shrubs and trees.

Internet Access

The internet is provided by means of a satellite system providing unlimited wi-fi.  Full instructions on connecting etc are in the Villa Information Book in the villa.

Bay Tree Villa is licensed for holiday rentals with the Greek Tourist Authorities (EOT).Licence number - MHTE 1042K92003139501.

General

Chania airport­ - 50 mins drive. Heraklion airport - 2 hrs drive.

Nearest Beaches - Almyrida - 12 min drive or Kalives - 20 min drive.

Nearest Tavernas and Shops -­ Kokkino Chorio - 23 min walk / 5 min drive or Plaka - 10 min drive. 

NB; all times are approximate and based on average driving and walking speeds. Some walking and/or driving may be on unlit and unmade track roads. Please refer to the map tab to view satellite images of the area.

Booking Information

Change-over days are totally flexible but are subject to existing bookings taken either side. If a booking means that the owner would be left with too many "void" days we might not be able to accept it. If this is the case we will contact you without delay to discuss alternatives.

Payment can be made by bank transfer to our sterling account or by debit or credit card (Mastercard or Visa) only.

Our travel information provides details of how to get to Crete including flights to both Chania and Heraklion airports.

Please note: although the calendars show live availability and you can book on-line, please note that your booking is not confirmed until we have issued a confirmation of booking. You may prefer not to book your flights until we have confirmed the booking.  

Low occupancy discounts - unfortunately the online booking system automatically calculates the single couple or small group discount based on the number of people entered onto the booking form and the start day of your rental. There are 2 problems with this:-

a) If you are 2 people but not a single couple, or 3 or 4 people but not 2 + 1 or 2 + 2, the system will have automatically calculated a discount when it is not due. Please make use of the "additional notes" box on the booking form to tell us and we will adjust the price accordingly before we confirm your booking.

b) If your rental overlaps from a discounted period to a non-discounted one (or vice versa), the discount calculated will be wrong. In these cases we have to make the adjustment manually. You can still book on-line but we will need to change the price on receipt of your booking request. If the price increases we will contact you to confirm the new price before we confirm your booking and take your deposit.

Please don't let either of these issues put you off making a booking. The discounts are genuine and our villa owners welcome couples and smaller parties out of high season. We just can't fine tune the booking system to account for these 2 circumstances - sorry.

I think it is fair to say that the bar is now set very high for the next villa holiday! We cannot describe the view adequately enough - and at night time, just wow! - August 2022. 

First holiday abroad since the pandemic! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the beautiful Bay Tree Villa and particularly loved the incredible infinity pool and amazing views - July 2022. 

Just wanted to add some positive comments about our stay at Bay Tree Villa. The welcome pack had everything we needed for a few days and we were very pleased to find the villa well stocked with the things needed to keep us safe in the curent situation including surface cleaner, wipes, hand sanitisers, soaps etc.  A couple of minor queries were quickly sorted by the managing agents who have an office very close by as you probably know - July 2021

Thank you for your help in organising our stay at the Bay Tree Villa (1st - 8th August).  We had a really good time. The villa was clean and had everything we needed. Loved the location and the pool/views.  The booking process, directions, car hire etc were all very easy - August 2020.

A quick line to say that the villa was wonderful overall and we had a fantastic time. We loved the views, the pool, the rooms and general quality of the property - August 2019.

Just to let you know that we had a great time at Bay Tree Villa which is superb. Debbie was really helpful and efficient with a couple of minor issues (wifi password  and non functioning coffee maker) and we had a great time. The pool was much appreciated and the private location of the villa just perfect for us. We followed a suggestion on your website to go to Pelagia’s Yard for a meal. It was the culinary highlight of our trip and can’t be too highly recommended. We loved Crete and may well return there again in the future - May 2018

We are writing this whilst watching the sunset from the front terrace with a glass of vino in hand! This is our 2nd visit to Villa Baytree and it remains THE perfect way to unwind and get away from everything. We love this villa - we'll be back - June 2016.

We just arrived home last evening (stayed a few days in Athens on the way back) and are already planning to bring my parents with us on our next trip back! Everything about our stay at Bay Tree was perfect and we couldn't imagine a better honeymoon. We had a lovely holiday again this year.  Bay Tree Villa was wonderful - so peaceful.  We loved watching the sheep going back and forth every day and of course the views over the bay were fantastic.  We visited Chania, Georgoupolis and Rethymno and tried out different tavernas (the one in Drapanos which Martin recommended was very good) - May 2015.

Just to let you know we had an amazing time at Bay Tree Villa it was all we wished for - clean, lovely welcome pack, well appointed, lovely pool, amazing views bla bla bla fab ! Think we may book for next year kids thought it was great. Peace and tranquility abound - August 2014.

A brief note to say thanks for the time we had while staying at Bay Tree Villa. The villa was great, really  well equipped, well maintained and a good size. The pool was excellent and the children loved it especially. The location was perfect for us as it was a great base to explore Crete, even though we never felt we had to leave the Villa to have a good day - July 2013.

Hi Jan - We have had a brilliant holiday in a villa with a most superb view. The peace and tranquility, just the sound of the mountain goats and birds, it was heaven. We wanted the seclusion and got it. Everything about the villa was lovely, typically Greek, its just how we envisaged it. Sitting by the pool overlooking Souda Bay.... well what more can we say! We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Bay Tree Villa, we loved the area we had chosen for our holiday especially down in Plaka where we ate on a few occasions in the tavernas there.  A beautiful villa......a beautiful holiday. Would love to return, hopefully next year -  Ps- the instructions you gave us to get to villa were the best we have had. Villa Bay Tree is truly delightful. The swimming pool is the most inviting imaginable. We have enjoyed our stay very much and the property managers have been great -­ July 2008.
