The owners have informed us that the bedrooms have been re-painted in hues of blue and white - the picture gallery is yet to be updated, sorry. Also, during the winter of 2022/23 the owners are intending to refurbish the bathroom on the lower ground floor, re-furburbish the pool including the addition of roman steps ,enhancing the privacy of the garden area with new planting and installing a new cooker in the kitchen. The schedule for this work could be subject to change and cannot be guaranteed. New pictures will be uploaded once made available.
Recently partly re-furbished by the new owners, Villa Xanthe is very conveniently located for Plaka's village tavernas and mini markets. An airy, spacious 4 bed and 2 bath villa built over 3 floors; it is perfect for holidaymakers wanting a peaceful location but nevertheless being close to amenities. The villa is in a quiet spot less than 10 minutes walk to the charming village centre. The popular sandy beach resort of Almyrida where you will find numerous waterfront tavernas to choose from is a further 15/20 min walk or a 5 min drive.
First Floor (Living Area)
To maximise the views out to sea and The Akrotiri peninsula beyond, the villa has been built with the open plan living/dining/ kitchen areas on the first floor. With 2 sets of patio doors opening up from the living area to a sizeable balcony running the whole length of the villa and another large glass door opening up from the kitchen to a small balcony, this whole space is flooded with light. The sea facing balcony is furnished with a generously sized table and chairs together with a comfortable rattan sofa enticing you to take long, lazy, lunches and dinners whilst making the most of the sea views and the twinkling lights of the coastline after dark.
The interior is simply furnished with a modern sofa, 2 lounge chairs and a dining table and 6 chairs. The TV entertainment at this villa is on the lower ground floor.
The fully fitted kitchen consists of all the amenities you might expect including an oven with a 4 plate hob, fridge/freezer and a dishwasher enabling you to self cater easily using the fabulous local products which you can buy in Plaka or Almyrida.
Ground and Lower Ground Floors (Bedrooms and Bathrooms)
The spacious entrance hall on the ground floor greets you as you enter from the external steps leading up to the villa with staircases up and down, bedrooms and a recently refurbished shower room leading off.
Three of the four colour themed bedrooms and the shower room are to be found on this floor of the villa. The bedrooms have recently been refurbished and each one is individually decorated and beautifully presented.
The coral room has a double bed and the green and blue rooms are both twin bedded.
The lower ground floor area could also be classed as the relaxing area as this is where you will find another large L-shaped sofa with a chest used as a coffee table and a large TV screen for family viewing. As an added extra there is a full size table tennis table and table tennis equipment for guests' enjoyment.
The 4th bedroom, also twin bedded, is located on this floor adjacent to a bathroom.
The large oval shaped pool is surrounded by very spacious sun terraces and the garden with plenty of space for everyone to spread out around the pool - 8 sun beds and 3 sun umbrellas are provided to accommodate the maximum number of guests able to book this villa. A few steps lead from the pool terrace to the quiet lane fronting the property. This lane brings you to the village centre either by following winding narrow roads through the old part of the village itself or by following the main lane back to the village centre. Either way it is less than 10 minutes walk to the nearest taverna and mini market.
Wifi internet connection is via a fixed telephone line.

Prices quoted are in gbp sterling, per week, for up to 8 people occupying the villa and are not per person. A cot for an infant is provided free of charge on request.
Alternative length of stays of more than 7 nights are accepted and are charged pro rata.
Prices include air- conditioning, a welcome pack, all linen/towels including pool towels and maid service with linen change.
Maid service with linen change** - 1 week stays - end of let clean and 2 week stays - at the end of week 1 + end of let clean. For stays that do not fall into a 7 or 14 night pattern eg; 10 nights this service will be provided mid-stay ie; approx after 5 nights.
**except pool towels which are only changed at the end of let however they can be washed using the laundry facilities in the villa during your stay.

Low Occupancy Discounts
A low occupancy discount for a single couple (use of 1 bedroom) of 15% is available at this villa except for July and August dates.
Not allowed on late availability or special offer prices.
If you are a returning client and this is your 3rd (or more) consecutive booking with Crete Escapes or your 2nd separate booking in one season, you will qualify for our loyalty discount. Please quote voucher code LOYALTY2.5 when asked to do so during the online booking process or let us know when you contact us. Your reduction of 2.5% will then be deducted from the total price.
Short breaks are normally only available for a minimum of 5 nights and will be charged at the 7 nightly rate unless otherwise advertised. However, if the number of available days between existing bookings is less than 7 nights we may be able to accept bookings at a reduced rate subject to the owners agreement.
Short breaks are allowed within 3 days of arrival.
Change-over days are totally flexible but are subject to existing bookings taken either side. If a booking means that the owner would be left with too many "void" days we might not be able to accept it. If this is the case we will contact you without delay to discuss alternatives.
Payment can be made by bank transfer to our sterling account or by debit or credit card (Mastercard or Visa) only.

Low occupancy discounts - unfortunately the online booking system automatically calculates the single couple or small party discount based on the number of people entered onto the booking form and the start day of your rental. There are 2 problems with this:-
a) If you are 2 people but not a single couple, or 3 or 4 people but not 2 + 1 or 2 + 2, the system will have automatically calculated a discount when it is not due. Please make use of the "additional notes" box on the booking form to tell us and we will adjust the price accordingly before we confirm your booking.
b) If your rental overlaps from a discounted period to a non-discounted one (or vice versa), the discount calculated will be wrong. In these cases we have to make the adjustment manually. You can still book on-line but we will need to change the price on receipt of your booking request. If the price increases we will contact you to confirm the new price before we confirm your booking and take your deposit.
Please don't let either of these issues put you off making a booking. The discounts are genuine and our villa owners welcome couples and smaller parties out of high season. We just can't fine tune the booking system to account for these 2 circumstances - sorry.
I just wanted to let you know that we had a fantastic holiday in Crete - the villa was ideal for our situation. Villa Xanthe was perfect for our party and the views and sunsets were spectacular. The location was also ideal. We’ll certainly return at some point as we fell in love with the island again, not having been there for twenty years and we’ll certainly recommend your company to our friends. Villa Daymer is new to Crete Escapes for the 2021 season. We will post more reviews once received in due course but in the meantime, any previous reviews shown below have been provided courtesy of the villa owners.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Villa Daymer. It is in a very quiet location with amazing views. We didn’t bother with a car, as we like to walk and there are several walks from the villa, the best one being to the hermit’s cave, which is about 2 miles away. It’s a short walk to Plaka where there are a few nice tavernas. We ate at Elpis on several occasions and celebrated our friend’s birthday there with traditional Greek dancers; the owner is just lovely. It’s about a 20 minute walk to Almyrida where there are shops, tavernas and a nice beach; however there is a bit of uphill walking on the way back - September 2018.
With three generations to please it was a tall order, however Villa Daymer managed to fit the bil perfectly and we had an amazing time. The villa is situated in a nice peaceful area, perfect for relaxing by the pool. We enjoyed many barbecues at the villa, where we could look at the amazing views and watch the sun go down. The village of Plaka is just a short stroll from the villa and there are some lovely tavernas for eating. Almyrida is not too far to walk and we enjoyed watching the sun go down on the beach before eating in one of the many tavernas there. We hope to be visiting Plaka and Villa Daymer again next year, a lovely place to stay. Gorgeous villa with amazing views. We really felt at home here. Plaka is a pretty little village and so friendly. We have some wonderful memories and hope to return next year - July 2018.
Five of us stayed at Villa Daymer for 2 weeks in June 2018 for the second time. Having stayed in the villa last year, it was reassuring to know what to expect and we were not disappointed. The villa itself is very spacious and also very private due to the large plot if occupies. We again ate most evenings at Harokopos, Plaka Square and it is really welcoming that the owners immediately remember you from the year before. The villa is fantastic, in a great location and the friendliness of the people in the town is amazing. I would highly recommend staying here for an out of the way relaxing holiday - June 2018.
Great base for our week. Spacious villa with everything we needed. Loved the amazing views of the bay and glorious sunsets. Memorable evenings at the many restaurants a short drive away. Would particularly recommend a day at the Botanical Park & Gardens. Would happily stay there again - May 2018.
