Close to Almyrida and between Almyrida and Gavalochori, Villa Dorsey is a comfortable villa standing in a large plot with a private pool and mature gardens. The surrounding area is very peaceful and picturesque with olive groves, vineyards and fruit trees and yet within 10 minutes walk you can be in the bustling seaside village of Almirida.
The property is a 3 storey building with the rental villa being on floors 2 and 3. The lower floor which can be seen in the photographs, is a basement which the owners use as a storage area.
Ground Floor (floor 2)
The ground floor living space is light and airy with an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area which can easily accommodate 6. The large U shaped kitchen is well equipped with all the necessities for a self catering holiday and from here you can enjoy views of the garden and pool. The dining area which connects the kitchen to the sitting area, has a table and 6 chairs with the sitting area beyond being traditionally furnished with sofas and various pieces of occasional furniture. Double french doors open out on to a furnished balcony overlooking the side garden.
One of the three bedrooms at the villa leads off the lounge; this room has twin beds, a wardrobe and drawers for clothes storage with another set of double french doors opening out to the balcony overlooking the side garden.
Completing the ground floor accommodation is a shower room with a walk in shower, wash basin and wc.
First Floor (floor 3)
The master, double bedroom and another twin bedroom are on this floor together with the family bathroom. Both bedrooms have private balconies which look out over the gardens and pool and both have plenty of space to store clothes in the wardrobes and drawers provided in each room. There is another spacious balcony leading off the landing which also overlooks the pool and main garden. The owners have furnished this with a teak dining table and folding directors chairs as this is their favourite BBQ spot to watch the sun go down and enjoy the panoramic countryside views.
Villa Dorsey is one of two villas sharing a driveway; it is the villa at the end of the driveway and hence the villa and garden are very private with no passing traffic. The villa was built a few years ago and thus it now benefits from mature, well planted and maintained gardens all around the villa including a couple of "secret" sitting areas. With lots of space for everyone, plenty of sunbeds, rattan tables and chairs, you will be spoiled for choice when it comes to selecting where to relax in the garden or stretch out around the large pool. The pool benefits from having easy access with wide roman steps at one end as well as a metal step ladder.

Low Occupancy Discounts
A low occupancy discount for a single couple (use of 1 bedroom), of 15%, is available at this villa except for July and August dates.
Not allowed on late availability or special offer prices.
If you are a returning client and this is your 3rd (or more) consecutive booking with Crete Escapes or your 2nd separate booking in one season, you will qualify for our loyalty discount. Please quote voucher code LOYALTY5 when asked to do so during the online booking process or let us know when you contact us. Your reduction of 5% will then be deducted from the total price.
Short breaks are normally only available for a minimum of 5 nights and will be charged at the 7 nightly rate unless otherwise advertised. However, if the number of available days between existing bookings is less than 7 nights we may be able to accept bookings at a reduced rate subject to the owners agreement.
Short breaks are allowed within 3 days of arrival.
Change-over days are totally flexible but are subject to existing bookings taken either side. If a booking means that the owner would be left with too many "void" days we might not be able to accept it. If this is the case we will contact you without delay to discuss alternatives.
Payment can be made by bank transfer (sterling or euro) or by debit or credit card.
Our travel information provides details of how to get to Crete including flights to both Chania and Heraklion airports.
If you want to book, please use the availability chart above to check your dates, you can then either book on-line, email email@example.com or call us on 0330 111 0061.
Please note: although the calendars show live availability and you can book on-line, please note that your booking is not confirmed until we have issued a confirmation of booking. You may prefer not to book your flights until we have confirmed the booking.
Low occupancy discounts - unfortunately the online booking system automatically calculates the single couple discount based on the number of people entered onto the booking form and the start day of your rental. There are 2 problems with this:-
a) If you are 2 people but not a single couple, the system will have automatically calculated a discount when it is not due. Please make use of the "additional notes" box on the booking form to tell us and we will adjust the price accordingly before we confirm your booking.
b) If your rental overlaps from a discounted period to a non-discounted one (or vice versa), the discount calculated will be wrong. In these cases we have to make the adjustment manually. You can still book on-line but we will need to change the price on receipt of your booking request. If the price increases we will contact you to confirm the new price before we confirm your booking and take your deposit.
Please don't let either of these issues put you off making a booking. The discounts are genuine and our villa owners welcome couples and smaller parties out of high season. We just can't fine tune the booking system to account for these 2 circumstances - sorry.
Villa exactly as advertised (if not better). Will definitely recommend and hopefully return next year - August 2017.
Thanks for the e mail, we all had a great time at Villa Dorsey. We will certainly be going back to Crete and maybe the same villa, we enjoyed it so much. Thank you to you and your team - July 2017
I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at Villa Dorsey last week and to thank you for the efficiency with which you and everyone in Crete dealt with our booking. Almyrida is so beautiful with its lovely bay, turquoise sea and friendly people - our holiday couldn’t have been more relaxing. A big ‘thank you’ to you all and many best wishes - June 2017
We had a lovely holiday. It's a really excellent location and the villa is very comfortable - May 2017.
We've had a great holiday - perfect spot for relaxing. Thanks to the owners of Villa Dorsey for making the place so enjoyable - September 2016.
It's been about my 5th trip to Villa Dorsey and we've had a great time as usual. Have eaten at Lagos in Almyrida, have enjoyed the villa and pool, been to the beach, bought more leather goods in Chania and will probably go to Lake Kournas before heading back to the airport. The addition of wi-fi has also been useful and means we could even potentially get a bit of work done here in future. Thanks for another great stay - September 2016.
Felt like a millionaire for 2 weeks! Amazing villa and pool, was so relaxing. Great village too, quiet but still lively so can't wait to return next year. Loved the swallows dive bombing the pool every evening and the geckos hanging around the porch light too. Thank you so much to the owners and Crete Escapes, you have a right gem here. PS - brilliant wi-fi - September 2016.
Beautiful spacious villa in lovely gardens. We really enjoyed our stay and had great fun in the pool - August 2016.
6th time in Dorsey villa and we never feel like looking elsewhere for a holiday. Such an amazing place filled with lovely people and where we as a family can truly relax and enjoy time together. Roll on next year!! - August 2016.
Really lovely time here, such beautiful weather and venue! We really enjoyed the village too particularly Captain Jacks bar! Chania was incredible as well - July 2016.
Had a wonderful time here in Villa Dorsey, pool fantastic - lovely and warm! Villa has everything we need. Loved Almyrida town and ate out there most evenings. Went to Chania for two evenings too. All great - July 2016.
We booked 2 weeks at the Dorsey Villa in spring last year and have re-booked again for the coming year. It is a beautiful spacious villa located in a tranquil setting with great views of the hills and mountains, but only 10 minutes walk to the village, shops, tavernas and beach. We loved every minute of our stay - August 2015.
We started visiting Crete in 1994 but it took us a few years to discover the delights of Almyrida together with the beautifully appointed Villa Dorsey. After our first visit there in 2006 we liked it so much we have returned almost every year since. The villa itself sits in spacious, well kept, grounds populated with lemon, orange, olive and almond trees. The large, safe, pool being the main centerpiece. Inside, the villa is very well equipped with all mod cons one would wish for and every room is air conditioned. There is adequate parking off the main road. Our son was married at the nearby Moorish Fort at Aptera in 2011 and we found Villa Dorsey to be the perfect venue for pre- and after-wedding parties/celebrations! Once visited you will find, like we have, that in the words of our dear departed Cretan friend Chrissa “there is always a coming back to Crete!” Words alone cannot express how we feel about Villa Dorsey and the surrounding village of Almyrida with its various tavernas and extremely safe bathing beach - you MUST visit for yourself - June 2015.
Crete is the most southerly Greek island with an agreeable climate. The tourist season usually starts around April and lasts until the end of October. The spring (April) is a good time to visit for hiking and to see the beautiful flowers.
In early summer (May and June) the temperatures will be climbing steadily to an average in the mid 20's. This is a good time to visit if you don't have to keep to school holiday dates as the climate is very pleasant and there are few crowds.
July and August are the busiest (and hottest) months with tourists from all over Europe choosing Crete for their holiday destination. The north westerly winds usually moderate the temperatures but it's best to make sure your holiday accommodation offers shelter from the hot sun. It goes without saying that the sea will be warm.
September is still high season with warm, sunny days and the sea is still warm. The season draws to a close in October but this is a perfect month for visiting the island as the sea is still warm for swimming and activities such as hiking and visiting the archaeological sites can be undertaken in pleasant temperatures.
