UK Routes To Chania Are Unaffected By Ryanair Cancellations

Posted on Wednesday 11th October 2017 by

As many of us know, last month - budget airline Ryanair announced that 100's of flights would be cancelled up until 24th March 2018 in a move to increase punctuality.  Quite a shock for many. Especially for those travelling on affected routes and unexpectedly forced to re-arrange travel plans.

We are delighted to tell you that none of our customers have been affected by these cancellations as all routes from the UK and the majority of International destinations remain in operation to Chania.

This is true for flights booked for both 2017 and 2018 dates so please rest assured that your holiday to Crete will go ahead as scheduled!

If you have flights booked to other destinations and are curious to know which winter routes have been cancelled by Ryanair then you can access a full list here. Alternatively, it is also useful to search for affected routes by country of departure.

It's important to remember that under EU rule 261/2004 -  if your flight is cancelled, your airline must give you two options:

1) A full refund. If you have booked a return trip then this refund must be offered for both the outbound and homebound flight. Ryanair has confirmed that they will adhere to this.

2) An alternative flight. This option requires your airline to source you an alternative flight which can be taken immediately or whenever you require it to be - subject to availability of seats.

What's more, there should be absolutely no charge to switch to an alternative flight.  Unfortunately Ryanair has admitted that a "small number of customers" have been inadvertantly charged for this but this issue has now been swiftly resolved.

We hope that this information will be of use to you if any of your travel plans have been affected by Ryanair's amended winter schedule. However, as mentioned earlier, we are delighted to confirm that all flights to Crete from the UK and the majority of International departures, will go ahead as scheduled - leaving you free to look forward to your villa holiday.

If you haven't yet booked your villa holiday in Crete for 2018 then take a look at our stunning properties here or call us on 0330 111 0061.
