Costs of holidaying in Crete

How do costs of holidaying in Crete compare to other destinations for summer 2016?

According to The Post Office's annual Holiday Costs Barometer, the cost of a basket of goods in Greece is cheapest in Crete.

Looking at costs throughout Europe, it found that the lowest prices (according to the survey) are in Crete (7^th), followed by Zante (8^th) then Kefalonia (10^th). In British favourite Corfu, prices are up more than 14%.

We can personally vouch for the value for money offered in "our" area of Crete where "local" goods are extremely cheap and a 3 course meal for 2, with local wine, will probably cost around 35 euro.
