General Description

Relatively new to Crete Escapes is the fabulous and very popular Villa Nero, a 3 bed (all en-suite), single storey villa situated above its own olive grove and boasting glorious uninterrupted mountain views from all the terraces and spacious swimming pool area. The villa has been built on a very private and gated plot within the traditional village of Kefalas, a short 10 min walk away to the centre. Kefalas village boasts a couple of tavernas serving freshly home cooked food and a couple of small shops selling local produce; ideal for all your self catering needs.

This very pretty white washed villa is perfectly located in an unspoilt, peaceful area of the village but sufficiently close to local amenities including the sandy beach at Almyrida, a short 15 minute drive away. 

The light, airy and modern open plan living area area is furnished in a contemporary style using hues of blue and white. A comfortable L- shaped sofa is positioned around a coffee table with a feature fireplace in the corner providing a focal point in the room. Large glass doors open out to a spacious covered terrace where you can soak up the wonderful countryside views with the Cretan White Mountains beyond. There is a TV provided for your enjoyment as well as plenty of books and games. A dining table with 6 chairs is situated close to the comprehensively equipped U-shaped kitchen (see amenities list); everything the cook could possibly need for that perfect self catering holiday when choosing to dine in.   

Adjacent to the kitchen area is a handy storage cupboard which houses the washing machine and other laundry items you may need during your stay.

The 3 double bedrooms are located to the side and rear of the main living area. Each spacious air-conditioned bedroom is furnished with bedside tables, a dressing table and plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. The very private en-suite shower rooms are cleverly hidden behind the wardrobe furniture for added privacy.

The master bedroom has a large oblong terrace overlooking the pool and those magnificent mountain and countryside views. The terrace is amply furnished with a table and chairs so guests can relax here whilst overseeing activities around the swimming pool. The second bedroom also has its own private terrace with a small table and chairs; a perfect shady area for a spot of breakfasting. The third bedroom opens out onto the communal terrace running the full length of the villa towards the pool terrace area. This terrace is also accessed from the main living area. The well planted and colourful garden can also be enjoyed from this bedroom. 

External Areas

The extensive outside space at the villa includes several terraced areas and a small culivated garden section as well as the olive grove. A large covered terrace wraps around the side of the villa with direct access to the living area and third bedroom. Overlooking the pretty garden area and furnished with a table and chairs to seat 6, this terrace and provides some much needed shade during the hottest part of the day.

Adjacent to the pool area, again with easy access to the lounge area, is another covered terrace with 2 rocking chairs and other occasional furniture; perfect for chilling out with views across the sparkling pool to the vast open countryside and White Mountains. Furthermore the spacious poolside terrace is extremely private, situated above the olive grove with no very near neighbours, it  is equipped with 6 sunloungers, an umbrella and a circular table and 4 chairs; perfect for al fresco dining at any time of day. 

Although relatively small, the garden area is well established with mediterranean plants including colourful pink bougainvillea. The owner has provided a hammock for you to relax in whilst appreciating this wonderful quiet space.

Villa Nero is licensed for holiday rentals with the Greek Tourist Authorities (EOT). Licence number 1230118.

General

Chania airport­ - 55 mins drive. Heraklion airport - 1 hr 40 mins drive. 

Nearest Beach ­- Almyrida  - 15 mins drive, Georgioupolis - 20 mins drive or Kalives - 25 mins drive. The picturesque Octopus Bay with a small shingle, rocky beach can be found at Omprogialos - 13 min drive.

Nearest Tavernas and Shops ­- Kefalas - 10 mins walk / 3 min drive.

Booking Information

Change-over days are totally flexible but are subject to existing bookings taken either side. If a booking means that the owner would be left with too many "void" days we might not be able to accept it. If this is the case we will contact you without delay to discuss alternatives.

Payment can be made by bank transfer to our sterling account or by debit or credit card (Mastercard or Visa) only.

Please note: although the calendars show live availability and you can book on-line, please note that your booking is not confirmed until we have issued a confirmation of booking. You may prefer not to book your flights until we have confirmed the booking.

Low Occupancy Discounts - unfortunately the online booking system automatically calculates the single couple or small party discount based on the number of people entered onto the booking form and the start day of your rental. There are 2 problems with this:-

a) If you are 2 people but not a single couple, the system will have automatically calculated a discount when it is not due. Please make use of the "additional notes" box on the booking form to tell us and we will adjust the price accordingly before we confirm your booking.

b) If your rental overlaps from a discounted period to a non-discounted one (or vice versa), the discount calculated will be wrong. In these cases we have to make the adjustment manually. You can still book on-line but we will need to change the price on receipt of your booking request. If the price increases we will contact you to confirm the new price before we confirm your booking and take your deposit.

Please don't let either of these issues put you off making a booking. The discounts are genuine and our villa owners welcome couples and smaller parties out of high season. We just can't fine tune the booking system to account for these 2 circumstances - sorry.

We have had a fabulous 10 days spent relaxing and enjoying Crete with Villa Nero as a wonderful base. We've loved waking up every morning to the amazing view and will miss it very much. Fiona has been a wonderful host and always responded very promptly to any of our queries. We are very sad to leave and hope to visit again soon - August 2023.

We had a wonderful time at Villa Nero. The pool was very cool and there is an extraordinary view of the mountains - July 2023. 

Spent an idyllic week here, it was absolutely fabulous. Spectacular views as a back drop to lazy days by the pool. When we could drag ourselves away from the villa we went snorkelling at Octopus Bay and swam in the quiet bay at Almyrida. We had the best ice cream at Mia's Gelaterie and tried some fab restaurants.So much do do within a short drive and the villa is perfect - accessible but quiet, well appointed and equipped. We will be back!! - June 2023.  

What a fantastic villa - very comfortable, very relaxing and had everything one could need including a spectacular view. Glorious little taverna in the village which has to be tried. Good base for an authentic Cretan holiday - September 2022.

Beautiful house with amazing views, great location and all we needed equipment wise. A really good base for all kind of excursions. Samaria Gorge, Elafonisi and Ilingas beach were our favourites - July 2022. 

Villa Nero provided for the perfect escape! We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful villa which comes with a pool, well-kept surrounding gardens and even an olive grove. The view of the mountains makes this place perfect for a relaxing getaway! It has three very well sized bedrooms with double beds, all with very decently sized en-suite bathrooms as well as their own terraces. The villa has all the amenities you could possibly wish for - including two fridges(!), plenty of towels for the shower, pool and beach! We have really enjoyed the atmosphere provided, both at the villa and in the village of Kefalas, which is a 10 min walk away only. The village centre has several tavernas to choose from and the food was exceptional, plentiful and tasty, and the service amazing. There are also several walks available around the area, including a forest walk and a long hike down to Octopus Bay, which has stunning views…best to find a lift back up hill! - September 2021.

We spent our honeymoon at Villa Nero and loved it. The villa is renovated to a high standard and is in an excellent location. The pool terrace is fantastic to walk out onto in the morning with stunning views across to the mountains and stays private and very peaceful all day. The neighbouring villages are all seriously lovely and we were in good driving distance from all sorts of gorgeous parts of Crete. The house is very well thought-out inside with all sorts of thoughtful touches for guests. I see us coming back many times in the future. Warm, welcoming and so much more to explore - August 2021.

I can’t believe how lucky we were to find Villa Nero. Amazing views in all directions, an incredibly comfortable house with a pool, peace and quiet, yet a short stroll to the local village and it’s friendly tavernas. It was hard to leave the house as it has an olive grove and each of the 3 en-suite bedrooms has its own terrace to relax on. Perfectly located for exploring the region with nearby beaches and only half an hour to Chania. Can’t wait to come back! - July 2021.

The pictures of the house are beautiful but could never give you a true idea of how wonderful this place is. The peacefulness of the surrounding mountains, olive trees, and sunshine all give you the sense that you are somewhere special. Not only does the house provide all the comforts you would need but Kefalas is also a warm and welcoming village, with excellent local food options. Would recommend Villa Nero a thousand times over!  - June 2021.
