House Papoura at Xirokambi stands in a large olive grove in rolling countryside, looking west to the Rodopos peninsula. The location is perfect for a lazy, relaxing holiday where you can really get away from it all whilst being close to a taverna (5 minutes walk) and the amenities on offer in the resorts of Platanias, Gerani and Maleme. From its quiet location the house has fabulous views of the sea and mountains which can be seen from the terraces, balconies and garden. In the evening you will see the most incredible 360 degrees sunsets.

The smaller resorts of Maleme and Gerani are a few minutes drive from the house and the lively resort of Platanias, where you will find an extensive choice of shops, tavernas, bars and supermarkets is 10 minutes drive away. The beautiful Venetian harbour town of Chania where you can spend many hours exploring the alleyways of the old town is about 23kms and easily reached by car (or bus from the main road about 4 minutes drive from the house).

The property has been extensively refurbished in recent years to provide very light, airy, comfortable accommodation for 6 people in 3 bedrooms. The main entrance is off the covered ground floor terrace which opens up to the large (40m2) well equipped open plan kitchen/ dining room and lounge area. The house has been decorated in traditional Cretan style and stripped wooden floors are a feature of the property. All modern amenities are provided. Still on the ground floor is one of the twin bedrooms and a modern shower room. There are two double rooms on the first floor (reached via a spiral staircase) and a bathroom.

Full entertainment facilities are provided (see amenities list) and your host, Dimitris, is on hand to help with any queries you may have. Previous guests have told us how much they have enjoyed their stay in House Papoura where you will feel more like a visitor than a tourist, from here it is easy to explore the lesser known areas of Western Crete.

    House Papoura is normally rented by the week, from Tuesday to Tuesday to fit in with the majority of flights from the UK to both Chania and Heraklion airports - see our flights page. Some flexibility in arrival/departure days is possible at this villa (depending on other bookings).

    Prices quoted are in gbp sterling, per week, for up to 6 people occupying the house and are not per person. Prices include air- conditioning, all linen except for beach and pool towels, a welcome pack and twice weekly maid service. There are NO hidden extras.

We will confirm the availability and send you a booking form; at the same time we will put the villa on hold for you for 48 hours to give you time to book your flights and complete the booking formalities.
